Storms have been slamming the southeast. Nick snapped this lightning pic in Arkansas with a Canon 1D. Updated: You may have heard how these storms have been destructive in Alabama. You can see more lightning pics here.

Hate to see you go...
Many of us who skate Papa Jack's in Malibu love it lots. We're sad that it will be closed in October. We'll make sure to have fun before it goes and we'll remember all the good times. Please leave a comment in support of a permanent skatepark in Malibu. Thanks. UPDATE: The City of Malibu seems psyched to move the skatepark to nearby Bluffs Park. That seems to be what might happen. We'll keep you updated.

Back in the Day: Fernandez Bros.
The Fernandez brothers came to L.A. to skate, chill, and have a good time. In the 90's there were lots of skaters from all over the world skating in Southern California. There weren't any parks. Only street. Here's Jesus' and Alfonse's part from L.A. County. Have a great week.

Bay area hippies are the O.G.'s. Ryan's chill style reflects that. This video is slick, all HD and fresh. Have a great day.

Skate the Northlands!
Lousy weather? Skate inside. That's how it goes down in North Dakota. Chad and the guys from This let it loose.

Back in the day - Chris Franzen
Here's something for you. In the late 90's there was a lot of street skating going on at USC, Lockwood, Fairfax High and other schools. Chris Franzen was an innovator who took switch tricks to a new size and scale. Here's his part from the skate video L.A. County. We'll try to throw vids from back in the day every Monday. Have a great week.

New Park in Tokyo
Jima sent us a video of a huge, new park in Tokyo. This is a new thing for the city. It used to be that the only "permanent" places for skating in Tokyo were indoor minis and bowls. Some of these were amazing but all were small. There was also a small ledge park in a courtyard that had a bunch of action. Now there's a huge park in Tokyo that looks like it has something for everyone. No doubt this park will inspire much ripping as Japan has a long tradition of shredding. Join us in providing Tsunami Relief here.

Jima in Boardkill Mag
Jima lives in Tokyo and there are lots of cool spots but so many people that you've can only hit some of them up at night. Here's Jima with a crooked grind at that type of spot. This photo was in Boardkill Magazine. You can still donate to earthquake relief efforts here. Thanks and have a great day.

Randy's Heelflip Video
We rallied early to put together a "how to heelflip" video and to skate some spots. Randy blasted a couple ollies and did a blunt kickflip to fakie at this spot on the east side. We had fine time and maybe just escaped getting jacked. All of this before 1p made for a long and interesting day.

Tourist Ollie
Frickin tourists! That's why the traffic is so bad in Venice. Here's NYC resident Gabriel Martinez trying to blend in at the Venice Park.

Sunday Soul
The Godfather of Soul lets it loose in Switzerland (which btw is a great place to sell soul). There's an ad before this video but if you can make through it you'll see a taste of what made James Brown so successful. Have a great day.

Sad to see them go :(
We're sad to see the closing of BE Skate in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Andy, the shop's owner, and BE have supported skateboarding and skaters in the area for many years. Try not to be too bummed Ft. Smith skaters but it is a tough one. Remember that if you support and shop at a local skate shop then you have a better chance of someone opening one. Thanks Andy for everything. We wish you the best.

Is it spring?
Rudy says he's moving to Cali to skate and to enjoy the weather and the green vegetation. Full pipes in El Paso. Have a great day.
